Now 90 members strong, our group encompasses businesses south of and including Fayette Avenue and businesses that have activity on the south end. Meetings are held the 2nd Monday of the month at Sneaky Pete's. A meeting reminder that includes an agenda and minutes from the previous month's meeting are mailed to all members. Guest speakers are often invited to speak on current activities that effect members.
Past subjects include, Greg Perry with the proposed TREC trail a recreational trail thought Effingham County, IDOT representatives on the the future Fayette Avenue project, Mayor Utz & Hank Stevens showing the proposed Sports Center, Effingham Fire Department business inspections, John Lange and Don Eden speaking about the mayoral election and the proposed 1% sales tax increase.
SBA has representatives on Vision 2020 committees and Chamber discussion boards. Election of officers are held and all projects are presented to the members for a vote of approval. Meetings are held in an open forum allowing all members a voice in all SBA matters. Financial reports are given at each meeting.
